Chaffee R-II School District Announces Dr. Shawn Nix as Superintendent for 2022-2023
Following a comprehensive search process, involving surveys and several special meetings, the Chaffee R-II Board of Education has selected a familiar face to serve as the new superintendent to lead the district beginning July 1, 2022. Dr. Shawn Nix, who served in the district from 2003 through 2015 will step into the role as superintendent.
Foreshadowing his commitment to the district and expressing his pleasure with the decision of the Chaffee Board, Dr. Nix commented, "I am honored to be given the opportunity to come home to Chaffee and serve as the Superintendent. I look forward to working with the staff and community to continue the tradition and excellence of Chaffee R-2."
Dr. Nix was selected from a field of thirteen candidates who applied through the MSBA search program. Throughout the process there were strong and consistent indications that a great deal of value is placed on building relationships and doing what is right for people. In his application Nix stated, "At the root of a successful administrator is always remembering the reason you are doing your job: to do and make decisions that are in the best interest of students."
Nix began his career in education at Mountain Grove, Missouri as a 4th grade instructor and followed
that with his time at Chaffee as a Special Education instructor, Director of Special Education and assistant elementary principal. Most recently serving as elementary principal at Oak Ridge R-VI (2015-2020) and Scott County R-IV (2020-2022), he will be entering his 25th year in education when his duties begin in July 2022.
Dr. Nix and his family reside in Chaffee with both sons currently attending Chaffee R-II.
